Education, Health

There is and probably always will be an issue with people having sexual education at schools. More conservative people will probably always object to their children being taught that in an environment such as a classroom, the same way that deeply religious people will always object to having their children taught about the evolutionary theory or prehistoric times. But if people can object to sexual education, they can hardly object to something as broad, encompassing and important as health education. Having a lesson on health education is more than just learning the basics to avoid being sick, it’s about learning how to stay healthy. And if these two sound similar, there is a lot more to one than the other. Being healthy is a lot more than just avoiding disease, it’s about knowing how your body works and how to make it work in top condition.

Health education is just as much about learning how to wash your hands before a meal as it is about knowing what you should be eating to have a balanced diet. And you don’t necessarily need a health professional to teach this to children, but it does need to be taught. And many adults could benefit from this as well.
